AN asylum seeker whose two-year battle against deportation won support across Tynedale has been granted leave to remain in the UK.

IF YOU own an old photograph of a man in a dress, or someone carrying a bendy two-handled steel sword, you could play a key role in tracing the history of one of the North-East’s most influential traditions.

hxMoxx21ct “ANYONE attempting to gain unlawful entry will be locked in a Tardis with a Cyberman,” warned the letter from Newcastle’s Centre for Life, inviting the Courant to its Dr Who exhibition.

Turning back the clock - Old Prudhoe

Kept safe since the 1960s by Riding Mill shopkeeper, Bobby Turner, the pictures have been brought out of hiding more than 100 years after many of them were taken.

After being used as toys by the children of Mr and Mrs Robson, the then agents for the Duke of Northumberland in Prudhoe, the postcards were given to Bobby to ensure they were looked after.
