A YOUNG actor from Prudhoe has landed a role in the stage hit Oliver!
Nine-year-old Nathan Jones, who attends Highfield Middle School, beat over 100 hopefuls to be chosen as one of just 24 in the child ensemble of Lionel Bart’s production, currently running at Newcastle’s Theatre Royal.
To win the part, Nathan had to perform two verses of show favourite Consider Yourself in front of a panel of judges.
Nathan, whose favourite actor is Will Smith, said he was shocked but “extremely happy” to land the role.
His acting commitments have since meant he has had to miss lessons on Thursday afternoons – along with his beloved rugby practice – every other week.
Nathan has also auditioned for a role in the musical Billy Elliott.
