TheRE was some disappointment when the Reds were pointed to a small bumpy pitch at Ponteland Leisure Centre for this NABC third round League Cup tie.
Ponteland United U14s 1 Prudhoe YC U14 Reds 4
Early Ponteland possession told and they went 1-0 up after about 15 minutes.
The pressure from Reds finally told as Nick Cairns picked up a flick through from Hugh Donnison to level the scores.
Two minutes later Ponteland were stunned when Jack Large flicked on a through ball to Nick Cairns who powered clear and notched his second.
In the second half, Cairns notched his hat-trick following a huge clearance from keeper Colin Coulson.
Five minutes from time, a delightful move saw Ben Dibb-Fuller and Donnison combine well and Nick Cairns flicked home a low cross.
