Water hits phone services
Last updated at 12:30, Thursday, 13 December 2012
ABOUT 180 Heddon-on-the-Wall residents reported faults with their telephone and internet connections last week, after water damaged some underground cabling.
Engineers from BT had to clear a number of blockages before fixing the problem by replacing 240 metres of the affected cable.
Services were gradually restored, with the works reaching completion last Thursday.
A spokesman for BT said: “We would, of course, wish to apologise for any inconvenience to those who lost service, and assure them we did all we would to get all this work completed as quickly as possible.”
